If you cancel

Berths are limited to twelve per trip, so a cancellation usually means the place goes unsold. Our practice has been simple and we will keep it simple: if we can fill your place from the waitlist, we refund you. If we cannot, the deposit is not refundable.

Because that outcome depends on demand rather than on a date, the earlier you tell us the better your chances. A cancellation three months out is usually refilled. A cancellation two weeks out usually is not.

Transferring your place

You may pass your booking to someone else at any time before departure at no charge, as long as they meet the same requirements and we have their details in time for the manifest. In most cases this is the easiest solution for everyone.

Moving to another trip

Where there is space, we will move your booking to another departure in the same or the following season. Any difference in price applies.

If we cancel

If we cancel before departure for a reason within our control, you choose between a full refund and a transfer to another trip. If a trip is cut short by weather, mechanical failure or an act of government, we refund the unused nights on a pro rata basis where we are able to.

Travel insurance

Insurance is mandatory and it is what covers you for the things this policy does not: illness, injury, a cancelled flight, a family emergency. Buy it when you book, not before you travel. It must cover surfing and medical evacuation.

A note on this page

The only cancellation wording on the current website is one line: refund possible if a replacement is found. This page keeps that practice but makes it explicit, and adds transfer and cut-short cases. The deposit percentage and the balance due date still need to be decided, and a lawyer should review the result.
